What We’re Looking For:
FoodCorps is seeking a qualitatively-focused Evaluation Manager to join our three-person internal evaluation team. This person will work on a variety of evaluation efforts across the organization, from formative and process evaluation that informs the development of our school-based programming, to outcome evaluation around our leadership development, network, or advocacy initiatives. Engaging with staff, program participants, and stakeholders from across the country, they will manage recurring, annual evaluation efforts such as feedback surveys, as well as contribute to the development of new and one-time evaluation efforts.
This full-time position will be based in FoodCorps’ Portland, Oregon office, with occasional travel to attend events or visit our programs in the field.
Who You Are:
You are a mixed-methods program evaluator who is passionate about FoodCorps’ mission and the way that feedback, data, and learning can help us improve the way we serve children and schools across the country. You are fluent in both the qualitative and quantitative domains, though you have a particular love of qualitative techniques, and you have a knack for knowing which approach is right for the question at hand. You are committed to evaluation that considers how equity, diversity, and inclusion play into the evaluation design, data collection, interpretation, and use. You love working with teams to draw out and focus on the most important questions, and you thrive on figuring out the best ways to answer them and tell the story of these insights with a range of audiences. You’re a self-starting and collaborative project manager who can take on everything from the big picture to the small details, keeping many projects moving at one time. You’re an adept writer, and your philosophy is that the project isn’t over until people have the insights they need and materials to share what they’ve learned with key audiences.
Facilitate and manage ongoing and one-time evaluation projects from start to finish, collaborating with staff from across the organization
Design, implement, and analyze qualitatively-focused evaluations, including surveys, focus groups, and interviews
Interpret and synthesize programmatic data and feedback to inform ongoing program development efforts
Oversee survey design and administration for a variety of annual feedback surveys
Collaborate with other evaluation team members on all stages of evaluation projects
Write, edit, and revise clear and compelling written reports and user-friendly presentations and materials to communicate findings internally and externally
Periodically conduct literature reviews and background research to inform program development and strategic initiatives
Skills of the Ideal Candidate:
At least three years’ work experience in an applied program evaluation role, or equivalent
Experience conducting mixed methods evaluations, with specific expertise in qualitative methods and analysis
Experience designing and managing surveys
Experience collecting, managing, cleaning, analyzing, and interpreting original data
Experience designing and writing concise, visually appealing, user-friendly evaluation reports and materials for multiple audiences
Experience incorporating stakeholder voices into the evaluation process
Effective project management skills, including in-person and remote team facilitation
Demonstrated knowledge of and ability to apply social science research methods and analysis techniques in real-world situations
Knowledge of common metrics, evaluation tools and frameworks, and priority outcomes for multi-site farm to school, school food environment, school health, and/or child nutrition programs
Experience in leadership development and/or systems change evaluation frameworks preferred
Ability to independently meet deadlines, solve problems, and prioritize and track deliverables across multiple projects
Enjoys working with people and on teams; must be willing to both take direction and manage up
High standard of ethics, ensuring discreet handling of original data and participant feedback
Proficiency in survey software (e.g., SurveyMonkey, Qualtrics), qualitative analysis software (e.g., NVivo, Dedoose), Google Suite, R programming language (preferred), Salesforce (preferred)

FoodCorps pays salaries that are competitive with nonprofits of our budget size and geographic location, and offers generous vacation and medical benefits, 401(k) matching, professional development funds and a sabbatical policy. This position is a Manager role with a salary range beginning at $55,000.
