Marketing and Communications Intern

FoodCorps believes every school should be a healthy school and every child – regardless of race, place or class – deserves to be well nourished and ready to learn. In underserved communities across the country, our AmeriCorps leaders teach students about healthy food through hands-on lessons, partner with farmers and food service workers to create nutritious and delicious school meals, and collaborate with communities to ensure a long-term culture of health. Building on this foundation of direct impact, FoodCorps pursues systemic strategies to improve school food that will benefit all of our nation’s 100,000 schools.
What We’re Looking For:
FoodCorps seeks a motivated, collaborative, and detail-oriented individual to provide administrative support to the Marketing and Communications team and assist on an array of internal and external projects. Reporting to the VP of Marketing and Communications, the Marketing and Communications Intern will work from FoodCorps’ New York City office. The Marketing and Communications Intern will work up to 30 hours per week at a rate of $15 per hour, for a period of 10-12 weeks over the course of the summer. (Exact dates and hours are flexible and will be determined based on a candidate’s availability.)

Organize photo and video assets
Gather service member success stories from reporting logs
Maintain a database of stories, quotes, and anecdotes
Monitor media and social networks for news and related content
Support social media reporting and analytics
Contribute to keeping website content up-to-date
Contribute to brainstorms and provide ideas for content and campaigns
Write, edit, and proofread content for digital platforms
Support other communications projects as needed
Perform administrative tasks as needed
Skills of the Ideal Candidate:
Undergraduate coursework or relevant experience in English, journalism, marketing, communications, public relations, or similar field
An intellectual curiosity about, understanding of, and enthusiasm for the work of FoodCorps
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Strength in multi-tasking, goal-setting, and prioritization
Highly motivated, with the ability to work as a team player and independently with minimal supervision
Familiarity with, or willingness to learn, digital platforms including G Suite, WordPress, InDesign, Photoshop, and/or Salesforce
Experience with social media platforms, including Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and Instagram
Strong writing and editing skills
Demonstrated ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines
Experience with and interest in inclusive, equitable communications that increase the diversity of our audiences
